LOVE this polish. GITA hits all my buttons. It's a pastel, milky shade, it has random sized glitter, it's a jelly consistency and the glitter isn't packed into the bottle, so it just floats randomly here and there like an accent.
I want this bottle to last, so instead of layering GITA four layers or more, I used Essie's St. Barths Blue as my base colour and just put two coats of GITA on top. St. Barths is pretty sheer itself, so I put three coats of that on first and then two layers of GITA so the glitter would seem to be floating in a glitter sandwich style. It's heaven!
I had no trouble applying this polish (unlike Sweet Dreams!) and as long as you remember this is a sheer polish and more for layering than applying alone, you'll love it.
I took this shot in the train under artificial light. It looks paler than it actually is. I didn't try and place the glitter anywhere and let the hex glitter stay wherever it happened to come off the brush.
Here's another shot in stronger light.
This is closer to the sky blue of GITA. You can also see the hex glitter and the nice contrast the blue and pink make with the milky background blue. There is some much smaller glitter, but I didn't take any really close up shots so you can see it. I'm working on getting a new camera. All photos on the blog are currently taken with my iphone.
And...the ubiquitous matte shot. LOL. I'll never get tired of mattifying, it seems.
Here you can see some of the smaller sized glitter particles. There are even finer ones that didn't show up in this shot. LOVE GITA so much! I really need a few back up bottles in case it ever gets discontinued!
Overall, I really loved this polish more than Sweet Dreams. It was much easier to apply and dried quickly. I got Candy Shop not long ago and haven't tried it out yet, so I'll so a comparison with that when I get around to it. Deborah Lippmann nail polishes are available at her website (the Japanese one is here) or at 3 shops in Tokyo. Your best bet is the Esola branch of Plaza in Ikebukuro. They don't carry GITA right now (or Candy Shop), but they do have Happy Birthday, Bad Romance and several other popular shades. All other shades are available on the Japanese site except Mermaid's Dream. I'm resorting to Ebay for that one. Happy shopping!
hi!
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering if you have any idea where I can buy Essie in Tokyo? I've been looking everywhere...
thanks!
Hi! Essie is easy to find at any branch of Plaza. The one in Shinjuku's Lumine 2 building has a nice selection of old and new styles. If you're looking for a specific shade, I recommend using Amazon.co.jp or Rakuten.co.jp. Or, of course, you can order from MariposaUSA. If you google mariposa and nails in the Japanese google site, it'll come up first. They have the cheapest deals for nail polish. It comes from overseas, but I usually get my polishes within a week and it's far far cheaper than buying in the store. Hope that helps!
